Youth share how Canadian support is changing lives in Ghana

Emma Hamilton-Clark

Here at Plan International Canada, we love telling our donors all about the positive accomplishments they’ve made – but nothing is better than hearing it directly from the children and families themselves!

In this special message, Jenifer, a girl benefitting from your Community Sponsorship in Volta, Ghana shares the incredible impact you’ve had on her life and the lives of many others!

Ensuring every child knows their rights

Every child has the right to learn in an environment where they can thrive. That’s why we’re working with children in Volta, and engaging them to learn more about their rights through our Rights of the Child (ROC) clubs, like the one Jenifer participates in.

Today, these clubs have supported over 1,650 youth across 33 schools to develop their leadership skills through writing, reading and social development.

Students participate in public debates and community drama performances, where they are encouraged to express themselves and feel more confident sharing their voices.

As a supervisor for one of Volta’s ROC clubs, Peace sees the positive impact these clubs (and you!) are having on children which each passing day.

“Through dramas, reading competitions and games, the club has become more active than ever. Children always look forward to it,” she says. “As a result, there is unity and peace – community members are happy and proud to belong here.”
