Liz here! We were sad to leave Ottawa today. We had such a great time in our nation’s capital! The best part, of course, was meeting all of the incredible girls and young women throughout our time there. Yesterday was a particularly packed day. We started bright and early with interviews on CBC radio across the country! Did anyone catch Simonee or Jon talking about the Because I am a Girl campaign first thing yesterday morning? They were awesome! We then went to meet with the grade 8 girls at Heritage Public School in Navan. In the afternoon we went to Rideau High School and talked with some pretty remarkable grade 12 students. One young woman we interviewed, Kayf, is a filmmaker herself! Afterwards we interviewed Samira, a law student at the University of Ottawa. Samira is incredibly involved in her community and is especially committed to children’s rights. We were lucky enough to sit in on her FYBY meeting… FYBY stands for “For Youth By Youth”. FYBY does media and news content for the University of Ottawa. Simonee, Jon, Torey and I were so inspired by Samira. I’ll vote for her for Prime Minister one day. Pretty exciting day, wasn’t it? I guess you could say we went to middle school, high school and university all in one day! Tonight we’re stopped over in Riviere-du-Loup, QC. We hit the road for Halifax tomorrow. We can’t wait! Don’t forget to leave us your comments and upload your photos and youtube videos… we want to hear from you!!
