With International Day of the Girl just around the corner on October 11, here are some fun and simple ways to show your support for gender equality and celebrate girls’ rights!
Let your social networks know that YOU support girls’ rights. Download our Day of the Girl date stamp and change your profile photo on your social media accounts.
What does a #BrighterFuture for girls mean to YOU? Show us by taking a picture or sharing a message with the hashtag #BrighterFuture. (We’ll #regram some of our favourites!)
Show the world your support for girls’ rights! Post a photo or message to Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or Instagram letting us know what a brighter future for girls means to you and what you’re doing to support it. Tag your photos and messages with the hashtag #BrighterFuture and your post could appear on our virtual wall!
Gather friends, family or colleagues and create your very own Brighter Future wall! We have everything you need to create a wall that lets everyone know what a #BrighterFuture for girls means to you. Use our toolkit and handy downloadable resources to make this celebration a success!
Beginning on Day of the Girl, October 11, and running until October 25, our friends at Ardene will donate $1 for every bottle of nail polish sold to Because I am a Girl! Get all the latest nail colours in-store or online and support girls around the world.
If you believe, like we do, that girls’ rights are human rights, then you’ll love our new book by Rosemary McCarney, Plan Canada President and CEO, with Jen Albaugh and Plan International. For girls and boys ages 8 to 14, this book illustrates the Because I am a Girl call for global change by telling the stories of individual girls around the world. Accompanying each real story are Plan’s amazing photographs, taken from years of working with girls and their communities. Feel inspired by this book and feel good knowing that profits from the book sales will support Because I am a Girl.
To celebrate International Day of the Girl, share 1 of 3 special notes of inspiration and Sears Canada will donate $1 for each share to send girls in developing countries to school (up to $30,000)!
Day of the Girl is a day to celebrate and advocate for the rights of girls around the world. What better way to celebrate then to provide our new ‘Girl power’ Gifts of Hope to girls in developing countries? Girls have a unique ability to change the world and the lives of those around them. This gift is about unleashing that power in every girl. It’s about offering girls the nourishment, education and protection to change their lives!
